Q. How do I buy games and apps from the App Store?
A. In general, you need to have an Apple ID set up first to be able to purchase apps, music and books from the App Store/iTunes Store/Mac App Store. Please check out these excellent resources from Apple: creating an iTunes account without a credit card and how to set up an iTunes account within iTunes. Take note that prepaid iTunes gift certificates originate from the US App Store only and will not work if you are using a different country app store.
Once you have an account set up, buying is easy. Just hit the “buy” button next to the name of the app and you will be asked to enter your Apple ID password.
Q. Can I redownload apps I have already purchased to a different device?
A. Yes! You will know that you already purchased the app before when you see the “install” or “update” button instead of the “buy” button. If you are redownloading an app, you will not be asked to input your Apple ID password. In general, you can also restore in-app purchases (IAP) you’ve made on another iDevice.
Q. What are promo codes and how do I get one?
A. Promo codes are unique letter and number combinations that correspond to a particular app/song/book in the App Store. Developers generate unique promo codes for every app release or update which they can give away to reviewers and users to allow them to try the game or app for free. Take note that there are no promo codes for in-app purchases, so freemium games don’t have promo codes but straightforward paid games will always have promo codes. Q. I’m a developer, and I want you to review my game/app. Why aren’t you replying to my email?
A. I am truly sorry but I am unable to keep up with the volume of review requests that come my way on a daily basis, and even some of these requests come with promo codes. Much as I would really like to accommodate all review requests, it’s physically impossible for me, and considering my current transition process, I am trying to catch up with an already heavy review load. If do not contact you within 24-48 hours from your review request, please take it to mean that I cannot review your app. Thus, it would be more prudent not to provide a promo code yet until I contact you.
