iOS App Review: Cover Photo Maker for Facebook Pro+

Cover Photo Maker for Facebook Pro+

We choose our Facebook profile photos with care, displaying our photos which paint us in the best light. Cover photo opens up a whole new layer of expression and meaning, allowing us to share with people a photo that we like or made – a beautiful panoramic photo of a place we’ve been, a family portrait, our pets … The possibilities are endless.

Now that Facebook is set to roll out its Facebook timeline feature with a prominent cover photo as its centerpiece, many users will want to choose one major defining photo that’s even bigger than their profile picture. While having a statement cover photo is a fantastic idea, I find the cover photo feature rather frustrating to work with since there was no way to resize photos in such a way that the whole picture can be seen and not just some blown up part of it. Choosing a photo that will fit in Facebook’s irregular cover photo frame is quite challenging, if not outright difficult. Those with some photo editing knowhow will have to edit photos and customize them to appear properly in the Cover Photo section on Facebook.

Luckily, for non-photoshop users like myself, Cover Photo Maker for Facebook Pro+ – is a real godsend. It just made my life a lot easier and my Facebook profile page a lot easier on the eyes, too.

Sale Alert! Fishdom: Spooky Splash, Notability and Contacts to VCard

Fishdom spooky splash notability and contacts to vCard

Who says it’s just another Monday? Today is a great day for app shopping!

1) Fishdom: Spooky Splash Premium (iPad) – The Fishdom series is an addictive combination of match three with simulation elements and Spooky Splash is no exception. Build the fish tank of your dreams and prepare for aquarium domination! The paid/premium version is free for a limited time but take note, I’m being asked to shell out the regular price for the full version.

2) Notability (iPad) – This awesome notetaking app is back on my top apps list thanks to a free massive update – themes, paper backgrounds, full-blown handwriting function and PDF import and annotation support. A note taking app that is a powerful mini-word processor on its own, the $0.99 is a steal!

3) Contacts to VCard (iPhone) – With zero user ratings on the app store, and the price tag of free, I figured downloading the app would be a risk-free endeavor. The app does what it says, which is to convert your contacts list to VCF and vice versa, and does it fast.

If I missed anything, please feel free to leave a message in the comments section. In the meantime, h(app)y shopping!

iOS App Review: Jelly Defense

Jelly Defense - appSIZED

Where tower defense games come in nearly all shapes and sizes, Jelly Defense is a beautiful, whimsical and unexpected contender that you can’t help but love. Few TD games can tug at the heartstrings, but certainly, these oddly cute little guys are worth fighting for.

Update: I just discovered links to Jelly Defense were redirecting to Jelly Defender. My bad! All fixed now.

There are a good many things many tower defense (TD) lack nowadays, and one of them is imagination. As one of the most popular genres on the iDevice, I’ve seen food, animals, and even people represented in tower defense games that vary from odd to plain formulaic. In a genre that spawns way too many wannabes and copycats which have a bit of polish and sometimes pizzaz, Jelly Defense steps up to offer its own brand of TD. Stay tuned for a fairly exhaustive review.
